I have been in education for 27 years: 20 in secondary and 7 in post-secondary education. My educational pursuits include a Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry with a minor in mathematics at Alabama A&M University, Master’s Degree in chemistry education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership, and a Doctorate in Education Leadership, Policy, and Law at Alabama State University.

I work as an Education Coordinator to develop procedures for teachers to implement curriculum, assess the effectiveness of curriculums and teaching techniques, train teachers and other instructional staff in new content or technology, plan, organize, and conduct training conferences and workshops, and coach teachers in skill improvement. In this role, I developed a program to assist students attain their GED and attain work and NCCER certifications, develop job skills to maintain emplyment.

While working as an Assistant Principal, I assisted in planning and implementing professional development, monitored student attendance, maintained discipline throughout the student body, and evaluated teachers and departments as assigned by the principal.
As an Assistant Professor of Curriculum & Instruction at Alabama State University, I was an academic advisor for more than 145 teacher candidates in secondary education. I monitored student progress through the university advisement system, Google voice, and email for virtual office hours. I assist the graduate department with thesis and doctoral editing and formatting. I serve on Departmental NCATE, Quality Enhancement Plan, Field and Clinical Experiences, and College-wide Technology Implementation Committees. While in higher education, I incorporated Smartboard, Blackboard Collaborate, and LiveText e-Portfolio, as well as web 2.0 tools (i.e., Voicethread, Eyejot, Blogger, Edmodo, Prezi, Google docs).
